Our University's Faculty of Dentistry Organized "White Coat Ceremony"
A "White Coat Ceremony" was held for 57 physician candidates who started our university's Faculty of Dentistry in the 2025-2026 academic year. At the ceremony, first-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry taking their first steps into dentistry experienced the excitement and pride of wearing their white coats, the symbol of their professional life.
The ceremony held at our University's Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Center was attended by Yozgat Provincial Health Director Dr. Mehmet Akif Karaarslan, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hıdır, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Güngör Yılmaz, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kocakaya, faculty deans, faculty members, students, and parents.
The opening speech of the program, which began with a moment of silence and the national anthem, was delivered by Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hıdır. Stating that the white coat worn by dentist candidates symbolizes purity, honesty, respectability, and hope, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hıdır said that modern dentistry is one of the fastest advancing fields among scientific disciplines. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hıdır continued his speech: "There will certainly be moments during your education and professional life when you feel tired and challenged. Courses will be intense, and practical applications will be demanding. However, remember that the moment a patient smiles at you with gratitude will make you forget all the difficulties you experienced. The greatest healer will not be the devices in your hand, but your knowledge, experience, conscience, and compassion. During your learning journey, our esteemed faculty members will transfer their knowledge and experience to you with great self-sacrifice, always being your supporters and guides. The white coat you wear today is the first signature of your professional life. Our belief is endless that you will protect this signature throughout your life with knowledge, conscience, and ethical values."
At the ceremony, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatma Dilara Baysan provided information about the faculty's educational processes and overall status.
Following the opening speeches, students experienced the happiness of wearing their white coats during the ceremony.
