The Radiology Unit is a unit that provides imaging services essential for diagnosis and treatment planning in the field of dentistry. By using modern radiological equipment, detailed images of patients' dental, jaw, and facial areas are acquired, providing support to dentists in making accurate diagnoses and guiding the treatment process.
Duties of the Radiology Unit
✅ Digital Radiographic Imaging (Panoramic and Periapical Films)
Digital panoramic and periapical radiographs are taken to obtain an overall view of patients' dental and jaw structures. This allows for the detection of caries, periodontal diseases, bone loss, and impacted teeth.
✅ Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT - 3D Imaging)
It provides detailed diagnostic opportunities by offering three-dimensional imaging, particularly for implant planning, temporomandibular joint disorders, and complex cases.
✅ Cephalometric Radiography
Used in orthodontic treatment planning, this imaging modality is utilized to analyze the structure of the jaw and facial skeleton.
✅ Diagnostic and Evaluative Support for Dentists
The acquired radiological images are presented to dentists to assist in accurate diagnosis. In light of these images, clinicians determine the most appropriate treatment modality.
✅ Patient Safety and Radiation Protection Measures
To ensure the safety of patients and staff, lead aprons are utilized and dosage adjustments are made to minimize radiation exposure.
✅ Emergency Imaging Services
In emergencies such as trauma, fractures, infections, or acute oral and maxillofacial disorders, it supports the treatment process by conducting rapid and effective radiological evaluations.
✅ Digital Archiving and Patient Records
Radiographic images taken are stored digitally, enabling easy access to patients' historical images. This allows for long-term follow-up and comparative evaluations.
