Medical Consumables Unit
The Medical Consumables Unit is a critical department that ensures the regular procurement, storage, and delivery of all medical consumables used in our hospital to the relevant departments. By tracking the necessary supplies to ensure uninterrupted hospital services, it carries out inventory management with great diligence.
Duties of the Medical Consumables Unit
✅ Procurement of Medical Consumables
Ensures the timely and complete procurement of all medical supplies used in our hospital, such as gloves, masks, syringes, gauze, bandages, catheters, and IV sets.
✅ Inventory Management and Tracking
Conducts regular stock checks of medical consumables, determines minimum stock levels, and initiates the procurement process by reporting shortages to the relevant departments.
✅ Distribution of Supplies to Departments
Consumables required by doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel within the hospital are regularly delivered to the respective departments upon request. Ensures rapid supply of necessary items in emergency situations.
✅ Quality Control of Supplies
Inspects incoming supplies to verify compliance with quality standards. If non-compliant items are detected, contacts the relevant suppliers to manage the replacement or return process.
✅ Expiration Date Tracking and Storage Organization
Tracks expiration dates of all medical consumables, identifies items approaching expiration, and prioritizes their use. Organizes storage areas in accordance with hygiene standards and ensures supplies are preserved under suitable conditions.
✅ Needs Analysis and Reporting
Analyzes consumption trends within the hospital to determine which supplies are consumed at what frequency, planning procurement accordingly. Contributes to cost optimization by regularly sharing reports with management.
