What is an Implant and Why is it Done?

From past to present, human beings have developed various methods to replace missing teeth due to functional, aesthetic, and phonetic reasons.
The current goal of dentistry is to provide treatment that meets patients' functional and aesthetic expectations. Dental implant treatment is a highly effective form of treatment for the rehabilitation of tooth loss. It has been applied in increasing numbers in recent years. It is not possible to fully repair an area with missing teeth using any artificial material.
However, implant surgery provides
the closest treatment possibility to natural teeth.

Dental implants are structures placed into bone, on bone, or into soft tissues intended to take the place of teeth. The goal is integration between living bone tissue and the implant.

The aim of the treatment is to achieve a direct structural and functional connection between the implant and living, healthy
bone tissue.

The number of missing teeth is not an obstacle to applying implants. They can be used for single tooth loss as well as in patients who have lost all their teeth.

When implant treatment requiring good patient-dentist cooperation is successfully completed, it is also quite successful in terms of patient satisfaction.

In order for an implant to be performed on a patient, oral hygiene must first be checked. If teeth were lost due to poor oral hygiene, implants can be placed after proper oral hygiene training.
Dental implants can be used for a lifetime provided that oral hygiene is maintained.
