What is Smile Design?

One of the main goals of dental treatment is to imitate teeth and design the patient's smile in the most natural and aesthetic way according to their needs. In recent years, new treatment methods have been developed to achieve this goal. Dental aesthetics has significantly improved thanks to innovations in aesthetic dental materials and new techniques and technologies.

Among the most prominent developments in the last decade are;

- Establishing universal aesthetic rules and guidelines based on the evaluation of natural aesthetic parameters,
- Development of prosthetic materials and techniques (zirconium, feldspathic porcelain, lithium-reinforced porcelain, etc.) alongside tooth whitening and advanced restorative techniques; advancements in orthodontics, periodontology, and oral and maxillofacial surgery,
- Application of digital technologies in the 3D planning and execution of real-sized, individual, and aesthetic smiles.

In the future, artificial intelligence is expected to impact aesthetic evaluation, smile design, and treatment planning processes.
